[It seems as if the promise of rain upon this lonely desert is beckoning a deluge of blood to join alongside it. There's no escaping the storm that Fate ordains, and if She demands that agony and torment be repaid in blood, then who is Mai to dare stand against a will greater than her own? She had known long ago that it was pointless to challenge destiny-- after all, had she any say in the matter, would she have chosen for her soul and heart to be split in two, leaving them perpetually half-formed and completely reviled? For as long as she's been aware of it, Mai knew she was forever destined to cling to a 'half' that would never truly make her whole. She knew that she was powerless to even try to keep it by her side in her cage, wrought of disappointment and fear. So, if she didn't even have the strength to consider herself complete the way she was, a feat so foreign to her that it's near unfathomable, then she can only accept that her sole choice here is to surrender herself as thoroughly as she can to Fate's whim. She isn't like her sister, thinking herself mighty enough to twist misfortune into glory. And yet, look-- this stupid impulsiveness that is all her own has netted her a golden chance that Maki could only dream of. Fancy that, the delusion borne of one determined half of this fragmented soul might one day be realized in the other, driveless half.

She'll keep it to herself, of course. Mai couldn't possibly tell Cellinia that bringing this clan of monsters to their knees was a fantasy she had heard countless times in her youth. And she couldn't admit to her that she stopped believing it after witnessing, experiencing what those monsters are capable of. Granted, her sister's dream was decidedly less violent than Cellinia's vows, spoken as easily as she breathed-- but what if this dream was always meant to be bathed in blood? A prestigious family tree, painted with strokes of crimson still warm with life. Mai had long since lost faith in Maki, who left her to fend for herself, surely knowing that she would fail. And yet a fragile part of her heart, a piece she believed to be atrophied beyond repair, dares to believe in the pledges of a handsome stranger who has already sunk her teeth into Mai's rotten, half-formed heart. She doesn't belong to the Zen'in anymore, she doesn't belong to Maki, she doesn't even belong to herself. If Cellinia sees her fit to claim as a prize, if she wanted to satisfy a quiet bloodlust with her family as payment, then Mai won't stop her, either. Just as her kin might have always been destined for this bloodied end, Mai was always meant to find her solace in someone who would make her feel cherished and whole. Fate weaves these threads as She sees fit.

And what a curious and wondrous turn of events, that such a foolish, hopeless girl might get to claim quite the magnificent prize for herself in this wolf. This devoted, beautiful wolf who has utterly ruined her, just as she promised that she would. It was always destined, wasn't it, that Cellinia would best Mai so splendidly? Her intense affection wipes clean the fingerprints that anyone else had so carelessly left upon Mai. Any proof of their existence is stamped out in breathless kisses, in those soothing hushes and tender reassurances that set her nerves alight with unfamiliar exhilaration, in the agonizingly sweet way her fingers slow once the waves of pleasure crash hard over Mai's entire body. Whatever cruel taunts and heartless insults anyone has ever buried her in is drowned out by the whispered promises that offer them to an altar of a love that rouses itself from a profound slumber and demands to be sated.

A deep fissure has split Mai's pride in two-- and really, it has happened too often in her life already-- but this time, it's something that she can never again reconcile. Oh, Cellinia. How lucky and unlucky Mai is to have crossed paths with you. In a single night, everything has changed, and it scares her. Does it frighten you, as well, sweet wolf?

'Take my hand, don't let me slip into thin air
Bring me back to life'

The way her heart still races, hammering against her ribs and echoing in to Cellinia's chest, it's all the proof the Mai needs that she is alive, alive again. Because she had absolutely died a little death by Cellinia's capable hands, crushed and shattered in ways that put to shame the brute force inflicted upon her by the shadowy monsters. They had broken her and left her to scrounge around in the dark for the pieces, tending to the wounds alone while she tried to build herself back up, never quite getting it right. She had become something far from the innocent and carefree youth who would have devoted her whole life to existing at the bottom, so long as she had the second half of her soul to complete her. They had taken it all away from her, leaving her unrecognizable even to herself. And yet, look how prettily these shards of hers glimmer for Cellinia, after she's ushered her to the top like this. The arduous task of reconstructing herself need not be fulfilled by Mai, this time-- and even if she were to still remain unrecognizable at the end of it, as long as Cellinia would still look upon her with such adoration, then Mai would be all too happy to leave every failed iteration of herself behind.

As her breathing begins to calm down, the last few notes of the song mark its conclusion, leaving them in a brief silence before the next melody begins to fill the void. All the while, the soft sounds of their slow kisses are all that Mai desires to pay attention to, their breaths mingling whenever their lips part for air. In the back of her hazy mind, Mai feels a tingle of amusement at Cellinia's reaction to her touch, and languidly traces her fingers down her spine once more to busy them with the dampened fluff of her tail. Another reminder that she lays with a pretty beast, though one that calls to mind a loyal companion rather than a bloodthirsty predator. The moments that she takes to come down from her high pass by without haste, and everything that brought her to her peak-- satisfying touches and intoxicating promises-- leaves her body humming pleasurably in the aftermath. Their flesh clings together from the sweat of their efforts, and the wet strands of Cellinia's hair spills over her shoulders, a curtain that leaves the sheets beneath Mai even more damp. She doesn't mind all that much, though. When she finally musters up the energy to speak, her voice is slightly rasped and weary from her earlier exclamations.]

I... [A slow, drawn-out sigh. She nuzzles into Cellinia's hand caressing her cheek, and a brief look of wariness crosses her features while she debates whether or not to speak her feelings aloud.] I really like the way you look at me...

[Despite Mai clinging in vain to the last bit of reluctance to admit defeat, her bleary eyes say it all. Cellinia can keep her forever. She already has a part of Mai that she can never retrieve again, a fact that this girl is painfully aware of. Yes, she's thoroughly ruined, tamed and made docile by a beast, of all things! Ah, the absurdity of it all is but another sip of that sweet poison that her tongue is happily, greedily accustomed to. Well done, Cellinia... ]

[If revenge shall be the blade that Mai would forge, then let Cellinia be the knight who wields it in her stead. Let the danger of this gallant wolf's pedigree, the same danger she had dared to vanquish with her own two hands, act as the shadow that swallows these monsters alive. In the end, the idea of justice was always such a twisted thing— those who boasted the most power would always be the arbiters of where those scales should tip. For far too long, the monsters have gorged themselves on the pride afforded by that power, becoming bloated with ruthlessness under the guise of honor. True justice will come for them all, won't it? Not a single soul will be left untouched by it, not even her own, nor Cellinia's. Perhaps even this dark vow of theirs is but another perversion of justice, a price negotiated too effortlessly for the gravity of their 'justice' to be felt in its entirety. Would mercy be given to these sinful girls after they've manipulated the scales to tip in their own favor?

In the end, Mai will contend with the possibility of having to pay a price all her own for this promise exchanged between them. Even if it this path is decreed by Fate, it doesn't mean that someone like her merits the sacrifice of numerous lives, one prestigious cage traded for the den of a beast who would wish to keep her all the same. Not even Cellinia might be able to stand against Fate when Mai is marked for her role in this sin. But when that day comes— if it ever does— then Mai can steel herself for this reckoning. Of course, she'll greedily hoard every bit of affection that she is able to until then, and wear it like a brilliant mantle, one very unworthy girl made into a goddess by a single, devoted worshipper. Perhaps she might even be able to plead with Fate to spare her beautiful wolf and lay their sins solely upon Mai's shoulders. What a thought— that she would ever have the fortitude to make such a declaration. Ah, Cellinia's romantic tendencies are leaving their influences upon Mai, aren't they?

Their heartbeats have fallen into a welcome rhythm, the pulsing of one becoming the complimentary echo of the other. They inhale each other, exhale each other deeply, kiss as if they have all the time in the world. Their lips meet, part, and meet again as if these kisses are infinite, borne of a sweetness far beyond them, though a sweetness that is generous enough to give these lovers a taste for the night. Such a magnificent altar they have made of this bed, and of one another's bodies. Mai dares to let one of her hands drift between her legs where Cellinia's fingers have slowed into the most tender of movements, slowed to almost a halt. She cups her palm over her lover's hand there, and quietly marvels at how they're one this way. It's as if her body was made for every testament of Cellinia's devotion that she had bestowed upon Mai thus far. At the wolf's ever-endearing admission, Mai laughs softly and brings her other hand to rub those fluffy ears with an open fondness.]

You're seriously gonna rot me with all of those sweet words, Cellinia.

[There's hardly any bite or even soft mockery in her words. Mai is sweetly agreeable from the exhaustion after such a pleasurable evening, and the soft kiss she presses to Cellinia's cheek conveys as much. The loyalty glowing richly in her lover's eyes, anchoring Mai all the more steadfastly to her side, even brings a genuine smile to the girl's lips. Despite the fears that each of them may carry at the prospect of their budding, dark devotion to one another, Mai indeed finds it all too fitting that Cellinia can recognize the parts of her that are so tired of pretending, tired of struggling, the parts of her that want to be loved, even if it's to the point of being spoiled by this love.]

But it's fine— I think I get it, now. You really like your girls rotten.

[There really is no flavor quite like it, is there? The taste of something that once bore such promise, only to be left forgotten in the dark, untouched by everything save for the passage of time. Attractive flesh could only take one so far, when the spirit beneath was so thoroughly spoiled. Anyone else would recoil at the sight of such pretty decay, treading around or even upon it in favor of reaching to pluck something pure and pristine, instead. Mai was used to it, being overlooked for something better, something with more potential. Whatever sections of her still palatable were devoured secretly, while those same lips would denounce her rottenness to the world. Where was the lie, and where was the truth? She had long stopped asking, and accepted that she was unsalvageable. Yet Cellinia doesn't balk at the taste, and can't seem to get her fill of this peculiar flavor upon her tongue— decay and loneliness. She must recognize it, something nostalgic found in the taste of their kisses. Only someone who has lived such a loneliness herself would seek it out again and again. From the small peeks of her solitary life that she's been given, Mai can tell that solitude had never ceased its possessive embrace of Cellinia, even if its arms wrap themselves around her less oppressively, these days.

Those beloved eyes that watch her wear the beginnings of a fatigue that mirrors Mai's own. The satisfaction, the protection that steeps in their amber depths is splendid, putting to rest whatever troubles dance on the periphery of Mai's tired mind. If not for the discomfort that waking up upon cold sheets would give her later, she wouldn't have protested dozing off right here where she lay. That little quip of hers comes around to taunt her— no sleeping over on the first date. Well, it's not as if this bed is in any state for proper sleeping after they've soaked it like this, is it now? She hasn't the motivation to fix up any linens in her state, but fortunately this isn't the only space where she might rest her head. Besides, is there much harm if she simply closes her eyes for fifteen minutes, an hour? Cellinia should have no problem making room on that couch of hers for both of them, and Mai can't imagine anything she'd enjoy more than to feel her arms around her while she dozes off. How many years have passed since she had last fallen asleep to such a comfort? How long has it been since the worries and the terrible dreams were kept at bay by something as simple as a protective embrace?

She can't guarantee that this vow between them is not merely an illusion, a spell that breaks with the coming of the dawn. But she doesn't think she can bring herself to stay awake long enough to see if this illusion disappears with her own eyes. If, in the end, she finds that she's lived a brief dream and that the wolf within her arms intends to drench her fangs in Mai's blood for a meal, then would she be troubled so terribly? The answer to that is foggy, layered, and hardly compelling. Besides, it's an answer that she would rather not even entertain, for she can feel it-- in the depths of her half-formed heart, she knows that she's something precious to Cellinia, a treasure that a beast might have wished for in her long, dark nights without repose.

She would be happier to wake and find that her wolf still adores her— would still kill for her— and then decide where the convoluted path drawn up by Fate will lead her, next.]

[Outside of their simmering promises of bloodshed and devotion, it would seem that the hearts of these two lovers are splendidly painted with the affectionate hues of two souls who have found their missing pieces in an unlikely stranger. Though, after sharing their bodies as well as the hints of a darker desire, they're far less strangers, now, aren't they? For the moment, Mai and Cellinia are a cobbled-together image of a pathetic princess and her disgraced knight. One day, perhaps, they might make this lovely picture something more honest, more brilliant and true. Nevertheless, it will never be something pure, for these two are far too tainted and rotten to ever taste the virtue they had lost ever again. But it doesn't seem to bother either one of them too terribly— the flavor of innocence is a rather bland one, and the dangerous love that poisons them sparks them to life wonderfully from the exhilarating spice of it.

'It's that obvious?' Cellinia dares to ask, and Mai stifles a snicker as she kisses her cheek again, secretly admiring her enjoyment of the little gesture— the faint blush that graces her face is not lost on Mai. Of course it's obvious, as it should have been the moment they dared cross a line out of sheer boredom. How were they to know that their broken edges would fall into place so surprisingly well? Surely, boredom was merely a veneer to cloak something deeper, something lonelier that would have always compelled them to have acted a bit recklessly. If not one another, it might have been anyone else, no? Certainly something quick, forgettable, just enough to stave away the terrors that loom behind them but for a single evening— as it ought to have been tonight. Yet how often had they met anyone willing to endure their thorns long enough to taste the nectar of their harshly-begotten blooms? Perhaps they both half-recognized the lonesomeness in their cheeky interaction, daring to stare it down until it revealed itself to be the same, sad decay that was feeding upon them both.

But Cellinia had asked, besought Mai to haunt her long after this rendezvous of theirs finishes, vowing to do the same. The deed is already done, the vow fulfilled without fanfare. They've woven themselves into one another's essences from the pleasure wrought tonight, the swell of ecstasy they surrendered themselves to. Suffocated beautifully by these little deaths, the two of them have become the ghosts they were always meant to be— and by each other's daring hands, not those of the devils who sired them. A deep breath passes Mai's lips when Cellinia withdraws herself, only for a sharp inhale to take its place when she watches her lover lap the sticky arousal coating her fingers from a job well done. The spectacle of it is curious, fascinating in a way that makes Mai want to tease her for it, but the words fail to surface. Instead, she softly chews at the inside of her lip while she stares, wondering to herself if this big bad wolf will ever find herself satisfied after devouring this girl she has charmed into her den.

In spite of the fatigue weighing all the more heavily, Mai is awake enough to appreciate her pretty wolf scooping her up so nobly and whisking her away from the discomfort of the ruined bed sheets. She snakes her arms around Cellinia's neck and buries her face in her shoulder, laughing softly at the gallantry of the act. Her lover's hands fit securely, perfectly around her torso and behind her knees, and she feels like something properly treasured as they bid farewell to the bedroom.

Compared to the bed, or any bed, the couch is acceptable at best. At the very least, it's dry and already half made-up to imitate a suitable sleeping spot, with the pillows and blanket scattered across the cushions. Mai loosens her hold enough for Cellinia to set her down gently, and through lidded eyes she watches her silhouette drift briefly towards the end of the sofa to retrieve the blanket to spread over the two of them once she finds her place beside her. They don't exchange words, not bidding one another a good night or the hope for sweet dreams, but Mai tilts her head up for one last sleepy kiss, wanting to taste Cellinia— taste a bit of herself upon Cellinia's tongue— before wrapping her arms around her waist, tangling their legs together, and nuzzling her face against her neck while her eyes finally drag shut for good. Thanks to their long, enthusiastic day spent with one another, sleep comes swiftly and easily enough. The security of Cellinia's arms and the quiet heartbeat beneath her warmth no doubt facilitate the descent into dreamless slumber.

There's only one instance when Mai stirs, and it is at dawn's beginning, when the blue-gray light of early morning filters in through the spaces in the living room windows. She can't be sure of exactly what rouses her, but in her groggy state, she almost imagines herself to be back at her family's estate for a moment— safe and warm and loved, a long-forgotten feeling that somehow envelops her again, but in a way that's far different from those days marked by youth's innocence. She blinks slowly, her eyes adjusting to the dim light, and the realization of where she is settles upon her in a manner that wakes her just a bit further. Instead of the remnants of incense mingling with cypress growing around the manor, the faint notes of tobacco and cologne greet her in their place. And instead of a big sister who turns away at some point in the night, forcing space between them, Mai is still wrapped in the embrace of a sleeping wolf's inked limbs, a beautiful lover ceaselessly protecting her throughout the night.

She shifts just enough to look upon Cellinia's sleeping face for several moments. Mai watches her breathe in and out, lets her eyes take in the strange serenity of her visage, the occasional fluttering of her eyelashes against her cheeks, her brow furrowing periodically as well. Their lips are close enough that their breaths mingle, and Mai feels a desire to touch her in some manner, push the errant strands of hair from her face, anything— but she decides against it, not wishing to wake her, already worried that her quickly beating heart is loud enough to do the job. So, she shifts back ever so slightly, returning to her original place cuddled against Cellinia's chest, listening to her rhythmic heartbeat as she waits for sleep to claim her again. She remembers, though, the echos of the dark vows they had exchanged, and they tumble over and over in her mind. It makes her feel something, a strange tightening in her chest, but she's still sleepy enough for it to remain dulled, less urgent, and eventually her eyes close for another bout of sleep in spite of this feeling.

By the time Mai truly awakens, it's past noon already, and in her half-asleep state, she hears the familiar pinging of her phone receiving messages, the sound faint from wherever she left it along with her revolver. Eyes still shut, she grumbles softly and doesn't bother hurrying to rise from her comfortable position.]

[Even now, the way that they hold onto one another betrays the quiet worry that they will have to surrender one another under the light of this new day. This princess' handsome knight can't possibly protect her from everything, especially when they were never actually meant to belong to one another in such a way. After all, for Mai, the guards that would 'defend' her are the old ways, the strict traditions that yank her away from grazing her fingers against any manner of happiness afforded to those who exist in the normal world. And she's no fool— she's well aware that, even if Cellinia is quite the oddity around these parts, her pretty wolf belongs more to this world than she could ever hope to. Such a curious world where tender affection is more than possible, where two lovers can spend a lazy afternoon basking in the sweetness that they cultivate together with kisses and touches. No, this world doesn't belong to her, but as long as she remains sequestered in this wolf's den, she can cling to the beautiful idea of it, pretending that what she holds really does belong to her, and her alone.

Alas, reality beckons to them clearly, slicing into their peaceful reverie, and neither girl is all too keen on untangling themselves from the warmth that had comfortably enveloped them during the slumbering hours of this first night passed together. It is only when this lovely dream comes to its natural conclusion that either of them can realize that they truly needed this respite from the usual gloom and depthless solitude. From a quiet selfishness, they might even go so far as to say that they deserve it, if those dark promises whispered to one another were any indicator of the torment that still plagues their lonesome hearts. How funny, the way that they would consider themselves greedy for yearning for something as simple as a salve for the ruined and scarred parts of their spirits. But for them, the prospect of love was certainly something that a virtuous heart might turn to greed over, no? Unfortunately for the world they shall return to in time, neither Mai nor Cellinia bear a heart clean of sin. The love that festers in their irreparable wounds has only grown into a more fatal poison— and yet there's nothing that compares to the dulcet taste of it after a sleep more restful than either has experienced in recent years.

Within her arms, Mai feels Cellinia shift as she awakens, and braces herself for the inevitable departure— peeling herself from Mai's embrace, getting up to start the day, leaving her colder and alone beneath the covers. Why would it be any different from what she's accustomed to? Mai has always held on too strongly, and for too long. Of course it would suffocate anyone whose heart wasn't as starved as her own. Even in her groggy state, though, she finds herself surprised at Cellinia's refusal to adhere to that time-proven script. Instead, she soothes Mai with a slow hand rubbing her back, and eases her into the waking world with adoring kisses pressed to the top of her head. A quiet hum rumbles in Mai's throat, a sign of how much she favors waking up to this manner of gentleness instead of whatever her heart was readying itself for, and she lazily brushes her lips against her lover's collar in a simple show of her appreciation.

This time, it's Mai's turn to shift, and she tilts her head up to take in the sight of a still-sleepy Cellinia. Beautiful, she immediately concludes, taken in by those lidded amber eyes that convey an unwillingness to do anything else but remain here with her, holding her closely. They behold one another for a few quiet moments before Cellinia dips her head to capture Mai's lips in a soft kiss. Mai graciously accepts, loosening one of her arms from around her waist so that she may cup her jaw, keeping her near for more of these slow and sleepy kisses that she secretly wishes she could indulge in at the start of every day. Just as they begin to deepen in their intensity, the obvious sound of a phone notification punctures the swelling affection and Mai draws back slightly with a click of her tongue.]

…Told you there'd be people wondering where I went.

[Yet the way she mutters this little remark against Cellinia's lips is devoid of the anxious anger from last night— the ones looking for her this time aren't the menacing shadows who would rip Cellinia from her without an ounce of mercy. From the slew of pings back-to-back, Mai can already tell that the sender is her very concerned senior, whose nosiness is merely borne out of a genuine love and concern for Mai and her moodiness. What would she tell Momo, about any of this? Very little concerning the truth would make sense to her, or to anyone, really. It troubles her a bit, how it's almost been an entire day since she traipsed off from the school grounds, and Mai still hasn't come up with a reasonable excuse for her disappearance. With the hours passing slowly into the afternoon, she wrestles with the fact that her vault of excuses that her friends might believe are dwindling. Mai won't even entertain the idea of that dolt Todo somehow catching wind of her little escapade— after practically harassing Cellinia after running into her around campus, he would never be able to keep his big mouth shut, and she knows how close he is to some of the Tokyo students. The last thing she needs is word getting back to her sister, of all people…

An obviously annoyed huff passes her lips, but Mai doesn't budge from her position, making no indication that she wants to entertain her friends or any of these bothersome thoughts threatening an otherwise delectable afternoon (or 'morning,' in her still-lethargic mind). For now, any real worry that might paralyze her has dissipated with the departure of the night, and the lesser troubles in the form of her fellow students can be easily shooed away in favor of enjoying what is right in front of her— more precious time with her beautiful wolf, for who knows how much longer they have with one another today? So, she resumes their kisses, pressing her body a bit more closely against Cellinia's, uncaring if she is able to hear how easily her heart quickens just from kisses alone.]

[A wordless invitation to linger in the tranquility of this gentle afternoon is extended to the two of them from their shared fatigue. Far from the frenzy awaiting them after today, they can nourish their starved hearts until they find themselves no longer wanting, no longer searching outside of the arms that hold one another so comfortingly. Whatever weariness is draped over them heavily right now isn't borne of the sins heaped upon their shoulders— no, it seems as if they both have helped one another divest themselves of these burdens, if only temporarily. What is left behind in their place is a tiredness that softly pleads with them to wait, to take their time here with one another, and savor an unfamiliar patience that would allow this garden of theirs to bloom prettily without haste. It wouldn't matter if sleep called upon them again soon, enticing them with a slumber so healing that it might cure a thousand restless nights endured before they had found one another.

Mai, herself, is torn between giving into her persistent sleepiness, and stealing what waking moments she has remaining with her lover. Its obvious enough that her friends awaiting her back at home— back in reality— are impatient to pull her out of this lovely dream. Cellinia's nonchalant remark about them earns her a soft snort from Mai, who rolls her eyes and indulges in one final, deep kiss before drawing back, her hand falling from her lover's cheek to rest flat against her chest.]

Yeah, right. Does it sound like my friends are the patient types?

[The answer to that is obvious enough, though the constant pinging has slowed to a halt, leaving them in peace again. For now, Mai will take advantage of the slack in the arms around her to shift her weight against Cellinia, silently insisting that she lay back upon the sofa. Luckily, her wolf is tired enough that the task requires little effort on Mai's part. Likewise, Mai isn't energetic enough to do more than rest most of her weight atop Cellinia, treating her like a very comfortable cushion as she props one elbow upon the pillow beneath her lover's head, resting her cheek in her palm as she looks down at her. An unmistakable satisfaction glimmers in her tired eyes, a look that's certainly more than just a little selfish. She leans down to offer her more kisses, letting their tongues mingle for a spell, and pulls away to brush the dark hair from Cellinia's face, twirling the red-black strands idly between her fingers.]

You have no idea how many questions they're gonna ask me about you…

[Because as soon as Momo discovers— with relief, mind you— that Mai wasn't summoned back to her family estate out of the blue, that only leaves the more inappropriate conclusions left to be drawn. And since Mai hasn't yet rushed back to the dorms, complaints already rolling off her tongue at what a disappointing night she'd suffered through, then anyone clever enough would be able to put two and two together— that whoever she indulged in a little romp with was enjoyable enough to keep her interest for another day. And forget trying to deny anything once they find themselves in the shared baths together. One look at the love bites riddling her body would tell Momo all she needed to know, and Mai would never hear the end of her questioning, not until her senior was well-fed from the delicious gossip.

'Who is she? What's her name? Where'd you two meet? Is she cute? I wanna see a picture!

Right— she can already hear it in that sweet voice of hers, meddlesome and badgering in all of her excitement about Mai's very-lacking romantic life. Just the thought of it is enough to bring a wry smile to her lips as she lets the lock of Cellinia's hair fall from her fingers in favor of playing a little with her fluffy ears. She mulls over those questions, and what her replies could be, if she even wanted to be honest to begin with. Her thumb and forefinger stroke the edges of one wolfish ear, appreciating the soft fur there, and work their way up to the point before trailing back down to the base for a couple affectionate scratches.

Cellinia is cute. More than cute, really. She boasts a handsome beauty that was enough to entice Mai from that photo she had shared at the very beginning. Now that was a dangerous idea, sending it to Mai, dangerous in every satisfying way. Would she dare show it to anyone else, though? If the spell does indeed break once she steps foot outside of her lover's lair, then maybe it's best to keep this proof a close secret for a bit. A shame, though, that Cellinia won't have a memento to be lovesick over, herself.]

Anyway— don't try to tell me that you've got nothing important going on today.

[Cellinia is a working girl, after all. Pure serendipity had Mai seeking our her company's services, and somehow her luck still hasn't run out. Something tells her that she doesn't make a habit of shirking her professional responsibilities to lounge in 'bed' all day with a new lover, though. Another shame— but the rent on this place doesn't pay itself, right? It half dawns on Mai how sheltered she is, her life taken care of by the generosity afforded to her by virtue of her birth. Sure, she may not be a spoiled princess amongst the Zen'in, but they're proud enough not to leave her without her basic needs being met as long as she's obedient. She almost shudders at the idea of having to earn her keep in the civilian world, unmotivated and untalented as she is. Cellinia will get a little more of her admiration in this respect, then, for the mental fortitude it takes to support herself— as well as the independence it yields as a result. Maybe Mai is jealous, maybe just a little.]

[Splendid is the sorrow that causes both of their broken little hearts to sting at the mere consideration of parting ways. What manner of wolf would offer her little red riding hood the choice between being set free or kept forever in her ravenous grasp— and what manner of girl would be tempted to select the latter, casting aside her freedom for a bed of thorns and an altar of flesh? Undoubtedly, it is the kind of girl whose 'freedom' is anything but, and who believes that she captures a true glimpse of it in the choice to remain with her beast rather than flee at the first opportunity. Another night together isn't promised, not when the call to rejoin the depressing currents of their normal lives is daring to overpower the call to keep dreaming in one another's arms.

Sleep really would be delightful, and Mai would easily welcome more of it with how groggy she still feels, even amidst the excitement of her heart fluttering at the kisses that they exchange with pleasant sighs. Cellinia must certainly feel it, from how they're pressed together. At this point, she's probably even committed to memory the rhythm of Mai's heart whenever she's positively thrilled, such as in this moment with how her precious wolf looks up at her from this position. She gazes upon her with eyes that admire her as they always have, taking in her beauty as well as the pretty souvenirs left in careful places about her neck and collar.

Mai, too, has committed these beautiful eyes to memory. Even if she may not be able to completely hide the love bites from a pair or two of prying eyes, the splendid sight of Cellinia's adoration was just for her. In truth, she doesn't even think she would be able to describe it adequately enough for anyone to to understand, to visualize without witnessing it for themselves. She'll consider, though, the things she could illustrate, when Cellinia expresses curiosity at what her friends might ask of her.]

Oh, you know— the kinds of questions girls ask each other after a night like ours.

[It does beg the question, though: does Cellinia know? How girls enjoy gushing over their lovers, trading experiences and listening in rapt attention about all of the enthusiastic fun they had gotten up to with them? Just picturing her pretty, stoic wolf sitting in a circle with her friends and sighing wistfully about her is nearly enough to have her giggling, had she not smothered her overt amusement instead. Would you keep her a secret completely, Cellinia? Never breathing a word of Mai to any of those cheery girls within the picture frames, hiding the bites and bruises and scratches given to you eagerly without the same care you had taken when leaving your own? Would this little day off remain untouched by any mention of what transpired, or would the longing be obvious enough for someone to bother this somewhat solitary wolf about it until she gives in?

Slyly, Mai smiles at her own choice of words, her voice hardly concealing the pride she feels for their time spent together. If she really wanted to, Mai could say plenty without giving everything away. She could tell Momo— and maybe Kasumi, if she doesn't completely short-circuit at this kind of talk— all about how Cellinia was thorough and attentive while leaving proof of herself with every hard kiss and sinking of her teeth in places to be hidden beneath Mai's summer uniform. She could tell them about howwell Cellinia did as she was told, about the mesmerizing way she murmured devastating words of desire in her foreign tongue, about how it felt to give in to pleasure in the backseat of her luxurious car while the music played on the stereo. Yes, she could tell them plenty, if she wanted, while still keeping the best parts for herself. Because she refuses to share how Cellinia never took her eyes off of Mai in the throes of ecstasy, or how she begged Mai to haunt her, how she promised to ruin Mai and how she made good on that promise. And she would never, ever tell them how she had practically pleaded for Cellinia to erase her entire family in exchange for her body and soul— nor how easily Cellinia assured her that she would, as soon as Mai gives her the word.

That will forever remain their little secret. The cute expressions on Cellinia's face when Mai's fingers give attention to her fluffy ears can be yet another delight meant for just the two of them. Mai's eyes light up splendidly when she gets these darling reactions out of her handsome wolf, who looks positively blissed out from the sensations. She's given these ears her affections before already, usually during or after one of their more passionate activities, so there's a unique kind of amusement when they're the star of the intimacies on this perfectly lazy afternoon.]

Aw, you really like that, hmm? Want me to keep going, Cellinia?

[Her voice is a sweet coo, though the smile playing on her lips is as smug as ever. And while she wants to tease the answer from her lover's own mouth, Mai doesn't really need to wait for it before fulfilling this impulse, herself. She tends to the other ear after a bit, grinning when it twitches from her touch, and marveling at the handsome blush kissing Cellinia's cheeks as she nuzzles into Mai's fingers for more of this sweet contact. When she murmurs about the lenient nature of her job and hints that she's amenable to a day off, it only deepens the satisfaction written plain as day across Mai's features.]

Sounds like you're asking me to tempt you.

[She won't shy from calling her out, not when Cellinia isn't insisting that her work today comes first. If she truly didn't want to give Mai the power over how she'll spend her day, she would have pried the girl off of her and dismissed her, perhaps only giving her a ride back if it's convenient. But, as Mai has ascertained from their time together, Cellinia is far too well-mannered to display such a callous attitude after feeding her sweet passions and reverence. Ah, how good she has been to Mai thus far, that if she sincerely hopes for such a temptation, Mai would greedily jump at the chance to fulfill that hope— herself a fan of abandoning troublesome responsibilities in favor of a day spent doing little more than messing around.]

And what're you gonna do with me all day?

[They can sleep a bit more, if that's what they choose. Mai will have no strong objections to it, especially when she rests her head against Cellinia, pressing the back of her hand to her mouth as she yawns softly. But she knows that if she closes her eyes now, the decision will have already been made— so she adjusts herself so that her forearm is draped across the wolf's chest, with her chin propped up on top, just enough for her to keep peering at her lover with eyes that fight the urge to slumber again so soon.

At the very least, Mai will insist that feeding her falls somewhere near the top of that list, as well as letting her take a proper shower so that she doesn't have to return to the dorms with a head lousy with cowlicks. Cellinia would just have to wait her turn, unless she promises that she'll behave.]

[Despite their best efforts to ignore it, these lovers slowly inch towards the hour when they shall part for a time, knowing full well that this little intermission from their dreary lives must meet its inevitable end. Resting so pleasantly together like this, their heartbeats once more in sync, it's easy to forget that they both will be plagued by the remembrances of how perfectly they fit against one another, how their kisses ignite them with the fire of life once again. They won't know that they've succeeded in their threat to haunt one another thoroughly, not until they find themselves alone and yearning for a touch that isn't there, a warmth that evades them no matter how ardently they may try to find it anywhere else. All the while, they'll be stubbornly ignorant that these ghosts that whisper bloodied vows like lullabies, are made of a burgeoning love that spreads like invisible plumes of poison. And when they inhale this poison to hallucinate these beautiful spectres until they have the real thing in their hands once again, neither will know that they're simply falling deeper into this emotion that they refuse to name.

One night isn't enough, a fact that both Mai and Cellinia can accept to be true, a conclusion that they can both agree upon without ever needing to breathe a word of it to one another. Though, how necessary are words when the love-starved parts of their souls can recognize a kindred heart behind the walls they've built up? It's fine— the feelings that they've uncovered speak to each other in a language all their own. Whatever these two lovers wouldn't dare utter to any of their friends would undoubtedly be made plain before one another instead. Words could never encapsulate the liberation they've tasted when feasting upon one another so eagerly. Let their hearts be the ones to convey such sensations with each beat exchanged. Because who else could understand the temptation of freedom, the shocking sweetness of love, offered to them by chance like this? How strange, that they found one another— that they fell into such an entanglement that was only ever meant to be physical, and yet it had just as swiftly become a path towards a world where their pain and sins would be vindicated.

Oh, the brilliant moonlight would miss the sight of them together, wouldn't it? Even the moon would yearn to kiss along their flesh as they surrendered to a love both heaven-wrought and hell-destined. How it might even praise Cellinia, this beautiful sinner of a wolf who carries its silvery glory in her name, the moment she would have her goddess upon her altar to worship once more.

For now, though, it is beneath the summer light of the sun that stretches across the living room that the goddess repays her devotee's worship with a manner of affection that she so adores. Mai grins even more widely at how Cellinia acquiesces to even more of those tender scratches given to her ears. How precious! There's no need for shame or pride to get in the way of this innocent gratification. Cellinia can soften against Mai's touch as much as it pleases her, she can blush and sigh and nuzzle against her to her heart's content. Mai will enjoy her fill, too, of course, watching in amused wonderment how those cute ears twitch and ease whenever she rubs them just right, and she'll delight in how soft the dark fur feels beneath her fingertips. Handsome Cellinia, scarred and rough as her body is, could still boast a pretty softness in her wolfish ears and that sweet flush deepening on her cheeks.

It seems as if Mai's greed is being rewarded in many ways, from her darling wolf's suggestions for another stolen day enjoyed together.]

Hmph— who's tempting who, now?

[It's obvious enough that she doesn't mind any of Cellinia's ideas— none of them involve their mundane lives, and while goodbyes are certainly looming come day's end, Cellinia knows better than to even mention it. It pleases Mai, knowing that her lover is just as reluctant for their time together to come to a close. You're the one tempting her, now, beautiful wolf, but Mai certainly intends on giving you enough affection to make it worth your while. After all, declaring the desire to spoil her? Careful, now— a wandering cat who gets a taste of the spoiled life will never leave once they know who to appeal to for it.

For her part, Mai melts a bit and sighs contentedly at Cellinia's hand stroking idly along her back. This slice of domestic bliss is so unfamiliar for this lonely pair, but it suits them all the same. Who knows when they will meet again— but they will, won't they? It aches to even think that today would be a stroke of luck, but at least that ache can spur them to eschewing sleep in favor of enjoying each other's company for a little longer. ]

But I'm only taking a bath with you if you can keep your hands to yourself.

[Oh, Mai can talk a big game, but despite the haughtiness of her tone, she can't conceal the small twitches of a smile that wishes to blossom at her own declaration. Their previous attempt at a shower was a mutual failure, Mai's trouble-making tendencies getting the better of her, and eliciting a satisfying reaction when Cellinia had gotten beautifully fed up with her teasing. Would they fare any more successfully a second time? Fortunately for both of them, Mai is well aware that it will be her own adherence to good behavior that will determine if this promising warm bath will actually leave them both clean. The two of them know that this girl has a penchant for making mischief— though the prospect of getting to soap up those adorable ears might entice her to play nice. Ah well, if Mai isn't going to keep her hands to herself, then it would only be fair to permit Cellinia the same freedom.]

Fine— you get to have me for another day. But that means that I get to have you, too.

[She's spoiled already, no thanks to her chivalrous wolf. Mai tilts her head up just enough to pepper kisses along Cellinia's jaw, feeling pleased about their day ahead.]

[It isn't so terrible a price, to be condemned to starve so beautifully for one another after today. In the grand scheme of things, the two of them had already nearly emptied their coffers repaying every other price demanded of them— the crime of living, suffering beneath the veneer of an exalted family name— all of them, debts to be settled. Neither girl had a say in how their souls and bodies were bartered by their families, what they might owe them for the twisted courtesy of treading upon this messed up earth. Yet if this could be a choice for them to make of their own volition, stealing a sliver of themselves away from their loathsome pasts to gift to a lover who might understand this anguish— then aching beautifully for another night, another chance to satiate this depthless hunger shall be the easiest exchange they could ever make without thinking twice about it.

A day might come when they might even give up anything to stave away the swell of nightmares that would no doubt torment them during their time apart. Mai had slept sweetly within Cellinia's arms, after all. Not a single dreadful dream danced across the darkness of her slumber. None of the cruel images, conjured from equally cruel memories, had sprouted from the bliss that blanketed her heart after being so faithfully worshipped by her lover, this lover who oh so nobly made her promises that would besmirch any honest knight.

How fortunate Mai was, this first night, to not have suffered the frightening sights of the very things she and Cellinia conspired to make reality. Yet the undercurrent of unease that swells without her awareness shall make her understand soon enough, that she isn't going to be so lucky in the coming nights. The moon that once kissed her flesh so lovingly as she gave in to her wolf's reverence would not be so tender to her going forward, nor would it shield her from the nightmares that lie in wait, that gleefully anticipate the moment when Cellinia's protection is loosened. For they know, those monsters of men who stalk her memories, they know how Mai longs to punish them. These figments lurking in her mind bore witness to her pleading as she deigned to sully her body under the hands of a beast, and they shall unleash their wrath upon her as soon as she tries to reclaim another sweet night of sleep. Yes, those horrifying monsters, well at home in every recess of her mind, will punish her soundly in every nightmare she will endure henceforth. They'll do their damnedest to try to twist her mind against you, precious wolf, before she can even give you the word to carry out your storm of blood and vengeance. Oh, how the ancient Zen'in roots would tear ruthlessly at what dares to grows between these lovers in the nights apart, the nights to come. A single evening is not nearly enough to mend two hearts completely— she'll seek you out until you rid her of those monsters for good, Cellinia.

Yet, for now, they shall scheme and plot in her subconscious while the sun casts its light upon her, blinding Mai to the troubles kept at bay in the company of her handsome wolf. It's rather easy to ignore the things she can't control when in her hands is a manner of happiness that she crafts, herself. Cellinia is certainly correct in her assumption of Mai's possessiveness. Truly, she shouldn't expect any less of a girl whose greediness merely masks a lonesome tendency to cling to whatever gives her that sense of belonging she's been chasing without much success. In this moment, as she caresses her lover's ears, Mai belongs to Cellinia as much as Cellinia belongs to her. She tempts as much as she is tempted, and of course she enjoys it, even if she avoids confirming it to her lover outright. The only answer she'll give is a knowing smile, and even a soft snort at Cellinia's vow to behave whenever they do share that bath. Her eyes, a bit more awake now, glimmer with a mischievous look that doesn't put much faith in either of them, though it doesn't carry any disappointment over it, either.]

I'm in your care, Cellinia.

[Whatever politeness normally expected from this customary expression is replaced by Mai's good-natured wickedness. She delights in Cellinia's eagerness to make this 'day off' a splendid one for them, and enjoys even more the slight tremble she feels beneath her from the kisses she gives. Ah, Cellinia wants to be treated well, too. Such a difficult task, she thinks with a self-satisfied laugh as she shifts to sit up a bit, enough that she somewhat straddles Cellinia's hips. Admiring the blush that still lingers from before, Mai cups her lover's face and leans in, chastely kissing everywhere touched by that lovely pink flush, and giggling playfully as she does. It's a shame— she'll miss how comfortable Cellinia is to rest upon, even for all of her sturdiness. Mai will just have to commit it all to memory while she still has the chance.]

All right, all right— we should get up, now…

[Yet Mai doesn't move much from her position, content with littering her pretty wolf with kisses until either one of them decides that enough's enough. How beautifully Cellinia blushes, how wonderfully it graces her stoic features. She's already treated Mai so well as it is, why not reward a cute pup with plenty of affection to call her own?]

[The ever-looming shadow of abandonment is a rather sticky one to shake off, no? These lovers are painfully familiar with its iciness, the way it siphons warmth from connections thought to last forever. Precious little in this world ever endures as long as one would wish it to, even the close bonds forged of shared blood and shared torment. Mai likes to think that she and Cellinia have something different, but she isn't foolish enough to hope that this newly born link between them can't go crumbling the moment she lets it out of her sight. Even this day, uneventful and ordinary to outside eyes, cannot last forever. Night will arrive before they know it, and neither girl can hide themselves in one another's arms for much longer. Reality is impatient for them to abandon this dream, yet all the same, it's almost keen on witnessing what the two of them will make of this burgeoning bond, how they might protect it from rusting beneath their time-held expectations of abandonment.

For now, perhaps these tender kisses would weave them just a bit more tightly together, whispering wordlessly to them that they may always find the softness that they so desperately seek against one another's lips.]

Fine, fine…

[Mai mumbles unhurriedly between the kisses she lays across Cellinia's cheeks. Okay, so they both at least understand that lazing about, though quite pleasurable, would only serve to eat away at their time left together. Indeed, nothing at all will get done if they indulge too heavily in this lovely spell of idleness. Domestic bliss can be savored in all of the other tasks they ought to carry out before it's time to say goodbye— Mai is, whether she likes it or not, used to bearing the brunt of tedious household chores, though she's more amenable to helping out this time because it's for Cellinia and not an annoyingly overly-critical family. Besides, that would just leave more time for Mai and her darling wolf to spoil one another after all of the boring essentials are out of the way. When they get to that point— which they really should soon, despite neither of them desiring to curtail this sweet exchange of kisses. Cellinia isn't making it any easier with how she lets her greediness get the better of her, wanting more of Mai's affections given directly to her lips, instead.]

Fine— since you're no help, Cellinia.

[Laughter dances in her words, even as she rolls her eyes after one last kiss she permits Cellinia to sneak in. Mai relishes the tiny spark of hunger that dares to snuff out the remnants of fatigue in those amber eyes, though she'll miss how sweet her sleepy wolf looked earlier. Right— nothing lasts forever, but that'll just beckon Mai to try to recapture that sight with her own eyes some other time. Her hands fall from Cellinia's face and she sits up fully, now, shifting to swing her legs over the edge of the sofa.]

All right, I'll go and run the bath. Don't forget to take care of my uniform— unless you wanna see how well I can pull off your clothes.

[Goodness— Mai will have to bite her cheek at her own unintended remark. It goes without saying that she has already proven that she can pull off Cellinia's clothes rather well. Of course she'll be needing her uniform back anyway, but will her lover really miss a hoodie and a pair of shorts for a few days? Besides, that would just ensure them a reason to meet up again, wouldn't it? Something decidedly not delivery-related, though Mai can probably drum up some manner of shopping list for Cellinia to take care of for her. A girl has needs, after all, and now Mai knows that she has one very handsome delivery girl to take care of nearly all of them.

Once standing, Mai stretches and sighs before swiping the blanket and draping it over herself like a mantle fit for a well-bred lady. She casts a haughty look over her shoulder at Cellinia— oh, did you want to see her traipse around your den without a stitch on her, darling wolf? No matter if you've already committed every inch of her bare flesh to memory, she'll gleefully pretend that she can still hide away something that her lover might yearn to feast her eyes upon, even if it's only for a short moment before they find themselves bathing together. Without another word, but with a look that says it all, Mai slinks out of the living room and into the bathroom. A few moments pass before the sound of running water spills from the open door, drowning out Mai's curious hums as she snoops around for bottles of anything interesting.]

[It's greatly amusing and equally frustrating, how they match one another in their reluctance to pull apart from these affectionate, needy kisses. What would Cellinia do if Mai were to find herself staying over more often? They might not get anything useful done if this petulant goddess would have her way— or perhaps she might slowly, quietly adopt whatever routine Cellinia keeps in order for this life of hers to continue running smoothly. She'd rifle through her organized clutter under the guise of tidying it up, while learning about her personal tastes and pretending that she isn't surprised that her wolf is still a girl who enjoys a decent movie every now and again. Her nosiness would likely get her into trouble, but all the same, she'd be able to flesh out this figment, this dream of a lover who would haunt her thoughts whenever they were apart.

Maybe she would leave herself behind, too. Traces of Mai that would eventually find their spots in the nondescript corners of this apartment— clothes or facewash or cans of her favorite soft drinks. Her scent on Cellinia's pillows, on one she might decide is her favorite whenever she isn't using her heartbeat to lull her to sleep. Something to make her equally as real during the in-between moments, anything that would keep her in someone's memory when she was out of their arms. Blame it on her various complexes, the ones that never fail to remind her that she's forgettable even when she tries her hardest not to be.

Until then, she'll just have to content herself with wearing the scent of Cellinia's soap, and the faint fragrance of tobacco and cologne lingering on the clothes she'll borrow while waiting for her uniform to be cleaned. It's fine— it's good enough, it'll have to be, because she can't bring Cellinia back with her, nor can she overstay her welcome, even if Cellinia had suggested keeping her. It almost certainly wasn't a joke, but… logic and reason are starting to creep their way into this reverie. There's only one sure way for Cellinia to keep her, and Mai doesn't want to tread close to that option right now.

For now, Mai is fine pretending as if they're normal lovers who merely want to cling to one another for just a bit longer, steal a few more kisses before responsibilities hasten them apart. Mai, of course, doesn't buy Cellinia's apology for a second. That's fine, though, because when has Mai ever been sorry for trouble she's caused for them, thus far? She's certainly not apologetic for cloaking her figure in the blanket, gleeful at the expression on Cellinia's face, one that betrays how accustomed she was to the unimpeded view before. Too bad— but you'll be able to to feast your eyes to your heart's content whenever the bath is sufficiently drawn, greedy little wolf.

Atop the bathroom counter sits the shirts that Cellinia had set out for them to wear last night, before the two of them opted not to even bother with clothing in the height of their splendid frustrations. If Mai were to lounge around here for the remainder of the day, then she sees no problem wearing only that simple dress shirt. A treat for Cellinia pretty eyes, perhaps, if she'll let Mai wear it for long enough to enjoy the sight. Of course, if they are to find themselves wandering about for a proper meal, then it goes without saying that they'd need to dress respectably. But if Cellinia wants to keep her goddess for her eyes only, then really, anything goes.

An oddly comfortable silence befalls them as they tend to their respective tasks. The rush of water into the bathtub is rather soothing, a rhythmic white noise that keeps Mai's mind from wandering too far. Hearing Cellinia taking care of laundry in the next room almost feels too normal and domestic, in a way that tugs at her heart in a way she's unfamiliar with, but nevertheless a way she secretly wants to experience again sometime. Along the edge of the bathtub are a few bottles she's picked out from Cellinia's surprisingly impressive selection. There was even a brand there that Mai sometimes used, another surprise. She'll hold her tongue at a joke she wants to make at thinking she was going to find some dog shampoo mixed in with the more normal options. She can be nice!]

Almost ready.

[She calls out, dipping her hand into the water to test the temperature of their bath. Mai keeps it a little less hot than she normally prefers, but it's comfortable enough to soothe whatever stiffness comes with sleeping on sofas. Next time, she'll avoid wrecking the bed too much for them to enjoy a proper night's sleep there.]

[Nothing about this burgeoning affair has been linear thus far, a dozen steps skipped and none of the traditional courtship required for a more pure love to sprout forth. Indeed, there was nothing pure about the way the swept aside every sweet formality and delved into these heady passions without abandon. There was hardly a shred of innocence in how they dared to peer into the cracks of one another's souls, stealing a glimpse into the blackest depths where their tormented shadows writhed in their chains. And once they were smothered by their dark euphoria, it became evident there was no way that a pure love could ever bloom between them. Deep down, in the more painfully honest parts of their hearts, they can accept that an innocent, tender love would only perish in their hands. If one sincerely wishes to haunt the other's heart, then she ought to be resilient enough to withstand the poisonous storms within.

Nevertheless, Mai might find herself retracing those skipped steps, in her own furtive way. Her lover can wear all of the secrets she pleases, but her greedy fingers will sift through as many as she'll be able to. When Mai already has something as ironclad as a vow promising blood-drenched freedom, it becomes easier to want to learn more about what exactly makes someone this willing to devote herself so ardently. It's obvious, the perilous undercurrents that course beneath her darkly-inked and silvery-scarred skin— but that won't be enough for Mai, the longer they indulge in this affair. She'll want to know everything, one way or another, even if it means inevitably overstepping the lines she cannot yet ascertain.

Fortunately, she is still shrugging off the last remnants of weariness to really plan her nosy expedition into her lover's personal life. Cellinia appears not long after Mai calls out to her, the hum of the washing machine dulled even further when she closes the bathroom door behind her partway. It tickles Mai for some reason, knowing that this pretty wolf had been tending to some chores in an effort to keep her little den tidy and livable, nary a complaint on her lips. Sure, Cellinia may live like a guy in some respects, but she's far more responsible than any that Mai had the misfortune of living with— it's quite endearing.

She sits up a bit, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and grinning at the nonchalant expression on her lover's face.]

Fine with me. You've got me kind of curious about what wolves like to eat. Aside from candy and girls.

[No, she can't resist slipping in this little quip, letting her hand stroke at the dark fluff of Cellinia's tail whenever she's near enough to set their towels down upon the counter. Mai doesn't ignore for an instant that she's in the presence of a beast— a splendid one, but a beast all the same. She sports plenty of bite marks reminding her of this fact, but she knows well enough that Cellinia isn't going to suggest hunting for some raw flesh for their meal. As evidenced by the mostly normal way she appears to live, Cellinia is almost certainly just like any other girl with a sweet tooth. Another endearing aspect of hers— that they can share a taste for yet another thing that isn't exactly the best for them.

Once the water level in the bathtub is satisfactory enough, Mai leans over to twist the nozzle to stop the stream. A pleasant steam lingers in the air, condensing lightly upon Mai's skin exposed beneath the blanket still loose around her torso. She rises from her place at the edge of the bathtub, and leans against the wall wearing that self-satisfied smile again. Even wrapped up still, Mai cuts a lovely figure, her hand delicately gesturing out from beneath the blanket and towards the tub.]

Well? It's only polite for me to let my hostess to go first, so— after you.

[The tail slightly twitching at her touch draws an amused hum from Mai's lips, as does Cellinia's little musing. She likes to think that Cellinia doesn't have too much of a problem sharing with her, sweets or otherwise— after all, she has already shared plenty, no? Offering her such a delectable taste for her tongue to crave later, an embrace that sets her nerves alight, sweet words that sear into places where prying eyes can't see. Moreover, she's well aware of Mai's own greed, and doesn't seem a bit threatened by the creeping fact that this girl might never find herself quite satisfied. If enough could ever be enough for Mai, then they wouldn't find themselves prolonging their romp another day, and rectifying the mess they made of themselves from their last attempt at tidying up.

Mai still isn't sure what her devoted beast gets out of keeping her, what would really ignite Cellinia's soul at the end of all of this. She'll find out, though, surely— this wolf won't remain an enigma to her for long. Just because Mai has rolled over prettily for her once doesn't mean that she still doesn't feel compelled by a keen curiosity. That part of her is as certain as the sun, whereas the moon can think herself as clever as she pleases whenever she decides to hide her light.

Her eyes do brighten at Cellinia's wisp of a smile, and Mai swells with a triumph that makes itself plain as day upon her features. It's a sight enchanting enough to rival those eyes she so covets upon her, yet one that only adds to the overall allure of her as she slips into the water. Mai beholds every second with obvious delight, watching as Cellinia eases herself against the bathtub, leaning back and looking every bit the menacing work of art that she is. Drops of water spill over the dark ink covering her arms, and collect charmingly over the bruises littering her chest. Certainly a sight to admire, without any shame to muddle it.

At that hand held out so invitingly towards her, Mai can't resist the pride she feels at being watched, this time. Confidence cloaks her just as well as this blanket wrapped around her— she knows that she's beautiful and she knows that Cellinia desires her. And she knows that it's a bit heartless to keep her handsome admirer waiting, as she slowly lets the fabric slip from her arms and pool at her feet. She wears her own collection of comely marks, and Cellinia deserves to appreciate them before Mai closes the space between their bodies. Her fingers brush against the palm held out to her before she grabs on more firmly and steps into the water now, herself. Never looking away, Mai sinks beneath the water with a soft sigh, and moves closer into Cellinia's corner of the tub.]

…good, I was worried there wouldn't be enough room for me.

[A lie— it's obvious that the tub is spacious enough, especially for an apartment. There's not a lick of worry on her face, but rather, a contented smirk as she makes herself more comfortable between Cellinia's legs.]

Ah, it feels nice… I could fall asleep like this, if I'm not careful.

[Another little lie, betrayed by the mirth in her voice, and the look she gives Cellinia from beneath her lashes. Oh, it should be fun to see how long they can manage to behave. Mai's own faith in the two of them is… middling, at best.]

[Sweet Cellinia, already accepting that Mai enjoys her little white lies, and willing to let her do away with personal space in favor of satisfying her whims. She's not an easy person to endure, this girl, for all of her quirks, some more harmless than others— but Cellinia seems to be doing well enough, taking her in stride. Time would certainly tell if Mai's greedy clinginess will be too smothering. Life's disappointments have shown her that even asking for too little can be twisted into seeming to be too much, so she's half-given up treading carefully. People can think what they wish of her, and they do. She'll tell herself that she doesn't care too much— yet when she's indulged like this, with someone who openly displays her own possessiveness, it almost serves to reinforce her own wicked nature. Why would she ever bother changing, or try to bend herself into someone else's ideal of a 'good girl,' when wearing those sharp thorns proudly has earned her that coveted missing piece?

'I'll make you mine forever.'

How could Mai not feel like the cat who got the cream? And she is every bit that haughty cat, sweetening only for the hand that feeds her, but happy to give a few bites, all the same. She does leave behind the prettiest marks, after all.]

Oh, yeah, I'm plenty relaxed.

[Her voice purrs, following a blissful sigh as she settles further against Cellinia's chest. Once more, they fit together as easily as if they were meant for this, the many different ways they might wish to hold each other close. It's as if the heat has softened their sharp edges even further, making them pliant and obliging to this rare tenderness. Of course, Cellinia envelops her far better than the warm water does, with her hands comfortably upon her hips, and her chin nestled upon her shoulder. The same safe feeling that wrapped her up so snugly in the night tingles familiarly wherever their skin connects, and Mai melts a bit further against her lover's embrace. One of her own hands traces along Cellinia's leg, before finding a few of the love bites she'd left and stroking over them mindlessly. Mm, she probably could have left a few more, right…?]

This definitely helps after sleeping on a couch. [She can't help it, she really can't— ] But you weren't half-bad, at least.

[Best sleep she's had in a long time, a sentiment that they obviously both share, given how unwilling they were to rise for the day. Cellinia truly made the most wonderful pillow, amongst all of the other things she did to leave Mai nice and sleepy. Even now, she has no complaints at how peaceful it is to settle against her body, taking up space unapologetically in this continuation of their cuddling on that couch she had just bemoaned playfully. And when she tips her head just enough to get a better look at her lover's charming face, she can't resist the urge to keep teasing her a little. Despite being in such a precarious position, right in the middle of a wolf's grasp, Mai just can't bring herself to play the perfect little captive.]

Next time, though, I deserve to sleep in a proper bed. That's not too much to ask, right?

[As if to bolster her sweet-talking request, Mai reaches up to stroke slowly at Cellinia's sharp ears. She rubs and teases the silky fur with her fingertips, before letting her hand drag down somewhat to card through the damp, dark strands of hair. Mai knows it, of course she does, that her ask is only as possible as her willingness to be a good girl and not get carried away like last time. But it's already been established, right? Being good is overrated and hardly as fun— besides, she's almost certain that she'll continue to enjoy frustrating Cellinia, probably as much as Cellinia herself enjoys humoring her mischievous ways.]
