(the voice is unfamiliar, she took a second to think about if she heard this person before. no, she hadn't heard her, not yet. who is she talking about? did she not mean to text her?
answer is leaning more towards a yes.)
Liem? No, this is Texas, it's fine. I thought for a minute that you could have needed something, since I don't usually get texts out of the blue without needing a favor.
That's what I don't know, it could be anything. She just has that kind of talent where anything tech related in her hands fell apart, from what I remember hearing.
(but she doesn't mind it, her tone says she's more patient and casual than disturbed by it. it's harmless, so texas saw no reason to be agitated.)
She just could not hold a phone to save her life, even had her phone take bullets and hits from weapons without realizing before. Don't worry, I think you'll be fine. It's just a matter of needing to be mindful. Kind of like handling things with care.
(to not be carelessly throwing it around, she means.)
[Who was around so many bullets that one could hit a tiny thing like that??? The image Konoha is crafting in her head of this strange woman is... a bit bizarre...]
I promise I try to be careful with mine, but it's so dainty and has all these parts...
It's more like her strength was up there from her race. From what I remember of her introduction, she told everyone that she was a farmer's daughter originally before joining the army.
(not that bagpipe meant to do this, she meant well. she just did not have it in her to use certain things like phones and other electronic devices without breaking them.)
Do you know what wyverns are? Since I read about them in the library, think of her as like that. Something like a dragon, but tougher and much more physically capable. She has the horns of one, but she lost her tail.
You're one too? I didn't realize, don't worry, I'm usually patient with these things. If you feel more comfortable over voice calls and need something, you can just call me.
(if she can deal with bagpipe's hieroglyphics being worse than konoha's, then she can deal with anything.)
Are you comfortable with picture books? Maybe I can find one to show you what I meant. But, anyway, the point is that she's strong and just has her own struggles with technology.
(well, her world does have all manner of dragons. though they're known as lung and draco.)
I'm definitely... more comfortable with talking in person, honestly, but. I was just trying to practice using the pictures. In case it was ever necessary...
[It seemed like it could be, in a weird world with poison rocks and alien people... But-]
I can do that if needed, then. Back home, we had people from all walks of life at the company I was contracted to. Some had to be taught to read and write, others weren't used to being treated like people.
(not that terra is perfect, but she did blink.)
Borrowed from the library, yes. Do you mind children's picture books? I think they might help you more.
(despite her demeanor, texas is....nice, genuinely.)
Yes, picture books are used mainly to help children learn to read, but....I think it might help you out. Since it can put the pictures to words and let you get a better grasp of it.
(a better grasp on reading might help her, it isn't like texas is above being patient for someone like this. literacy can take time, as long as the other person is willing to learn.)
I doubt they'll mind as long as we tell them that any damage was an accident if something happens. We can probably start with fairytales.
(that might be better, maybe there are some karterian ones around.)
That's fine, some of the people from back home started from no experience themselves, too. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to learn, as depressing as it is.
(but she also doesn't pity them, everyone has their own separate issues. sometimes they're more than what those who had certain privileges has ever experienced.)
Feels like they might be, despite the differences it's almost like there's something similar to what we're used to. Stories that sound familiar, or even simple things like with the wildlife.
[In her world and this world and... she guesses other worlds.]
That's true... I recognize a lot of animals and tree and plants... even though the people are really different in how they dress and act and build things.
I did notice the same thing, even if I had to change my vocabulary on how to refer to the wildlife instead of terms I used before. To give an idea, we called fish by "finbeasts" and birds by "wingbeasts".

Except she had a new phone half the time from her being terrible at not breaking them or anything tech related she used.
(tech illiterate farm girl problems.)
