(shit. she was hoping a little she might not have to worry about this, her arm is fine enough by now no matter the sharp talons of the harpies she fought while protecting marco. the transformation into a werewolf after wasn't quite that helpful either in it's healing since it was immediately reopened after from the way her body contorted, but that was a given.
....maybe she can keep that hidden for now since it's wrapped up beneath her sweater currently.)
I'm fine. A lot of the stuff going on was things I got caught in sadly; I don't envy you for staying inside the whole time.
You missed the brunt of it with the resort being filled up with monsters and the basement was weirdly freezing and nastier than usual when I went to go check on Broca again.
Me, him, and I'm assuming you know Aak too work for the same pharmaceutical company in addition to what we normally do. For me they use my work in the logistics company I'm part of as a means of helping deliver supplies, I'll also occasionally bring by to the landship other things they buy on terms of odds and ends.
The groups we're part of are separate though. Aak is part of a detective's agency since I've done deliveries for him, Hung, and Waai Fu before. Broca's group is him and two other friends of his named Chiave and Aosta. I've brought their supply requests often for their projects because the three of them work on different things together.
[ on christmas morning, one of the staff will deliver a package to cellinia wherever she is. there's no card, but there is a note attached to the ribbon in clorinde's handwriting: joyeux noël, cellinia. — clorinde
(of course on christmas morning there had been a mutual delivery done. cellinia had left it herself, no card attached as well. however, the note attached did read in her own writing: buon natale, clorinde. — cellinia.
her own package would be a silver rapier pendant and a ring of similar nature. both things cellinia had thought suited her.)
[Texas may carry Pocky on her at all times, but has she ever had giant Pocky? The kind that's 28 centimeters long??If not, good news: Hiyori bought her some for Christmas! It comes in five different flavors, and it'll be delivered to her door on the 25th, accompanied by a handwritten note.
I didn't know they still made this kind! Anyway, thanks for helping out in the treehouse. I hope you have a "sweet" Christmas!
Funnily enough, a gold coin from the casino seems to have made its way into the envelope. How did it get there? Who knows—but it might just be a gift from Rinne Junior, who collects them. Hiyori doodles Rinne Junior on the note, along with his other two birds who were in the treehouse with them, and signs the note with his signature.]
Something like that. Nonno....my grandfather, he wanted me to protect myself.
Later, whenever I learned how to use the family swordsmanship in tandem with my arts? He gave me my first sword. He was proud of me.
I remember he said: Cellinia, you are a natural-born combatant, never forget that, my granddaughter.
I didn't know what he meant at the time until later, when I started to notice that I reacted differently in a fight than in general. That I wasn't holding back when someone drew a weapon on me....I wasn't showing them mercy, they wouldn't have shown it to me.
We frequently embalmed bodies to preserve the appearance of the deceased. Cremation was also an option. I was speaking more of the mourning that comes afterwards. I am not usually invited to such things, but the kind that includes liturgy and eulogy. The graveside services are also charming in their own way.
["Charming"... she still thinks she's being subtle enough. She hasn't said anything horribly weird. Funeral services can be charming!]
The longer one lives the more familiar they become with such things. My personal interest is something all together different. I don't expect many to share it.
I think I get what you mean. People mourn in different ways, I know that I did after my own loss. There wasn't a coffin or anything involved, though.
(never mind that this sounds concerning more, that she could be so....blunt. about her own history with death. but it was something she didn't think too much about. it's kill or be killed, she only participates the way she knows best and can do best.)
Hobbies tend to help more, don't they? I mean, back home I know of people who are a lot older than me in passing....one of them being that doctor I mentioned that wanted my blood for her collection. Honestly? It seemed lonely?
I've even heard about cultures that celebrate at funerals. There are large banquets and dancing. I am not good at dancing but I would certainly try for something like that.
[As for mourning without a coffin... that wasn't as incriminating as it could be. There were many battlefields where bodies were never recovered. She had personally made sure some bodies were unrecovered. Death continues. Grief continues. Life continues.]
My hobby has always helped whenever I have felt lonely. Loneliness is possible at every age, though. As is being so called upon and needed that it's irritating.
(part of her felt a tinge of relief at there being no response, maybe she’s safe. she’d hope for that much. texas had even contemplated asking for them to replace the jacuzzi with something else, she rather play pool than, say, enter into a hot tub with someone. but that wasn’t on the table originally whenever the wolf had been trying to earn chips for herself as a means of avoiding more issues. by now, she’s smoking again. lit cigarette hanging out of her mouth and head tilted back into her sofa with her gaze fixated on the ceiling, she’s half hoping that the other woman also got tempted by another offer. surely she’d have a few, right? she’s good-looking and texas can admit that. women like her are bound to get many offers from the freaks in this resort, not even the players like them alone who are stuck in this hellhole as she’s often called it to herself.
it’s only the forceful knock that causes her to almost jolt, fuck. she should have expected that. the other woman found her room number. she’s reluctant on letting her in, if not for her recollection of what can happen if she didn’t? she even might not have, but eventually the lock clicks open and there she is. the first lone wolf of this resort, dressed casually in gym shorts and a tank top as she usually would for when she’s relaxing. the aesthetic from what she could edit was an interesting one, though. black and blue colors, a mix of classic film noir mobster and modern day gangster about what pops out. even tied together by what looks to be her window’s hologram showing a constant dreary rain.
is it bad that she’s hoping to not get a repeat of their first meeting? probably, probably not. but the door is open and there is that jacuzzi off in a corner. untouched, but taken care of. close to another set of windows that she changed, the bar she mentioned did look more used. even her kitchen does, she doesn’t always drink but she does typically cook her meals when given that chance. nothing more than that before the wolf takes up her spot on the sofa again. not a word, not a single word while she dips her cigarette into the ashtray until:)
[ Jingyi's scowl turns into a mischievous smile, then brazenly lets herself in without waiting for permission. She stretches her arm as she struts inside, feeling at home without even spending any time longer than a minute yet. ]
All the more reason to use it before it disappears.
[ She says, only then she stops to look around and notices the drinks and the parts of the suite that looks lived in, and parts that did not. ]
Ah, another side of you. How deeply interesting... Never thought someone as fluffy and adorable as yourself would be a smoker.
(she didn’t need much permission, texas seems to have caught on that stopping her would have mixed results. her attention shifts away, not putting anymore thought into the conversation. she can use it for now, but texas does intend to replace it when given chance. she’s only not as of now because the wolf doubts she can put in a request on short notice. well, that and again, she would rather save her chips for more important things. she can deal with a repeat visitor wanting to use it until she inevitably replaces it with something that she’d use instead of a hot tub. she’s not even sure why she was given it, it was clear she wouldn’t be using it.
the thoughts aside, now that caught her off guard in how she blinks. excuse her? “fluffy” and “adorable”? were it anyone else, she might have brushed it off, but coming from this woman? she’s not sure if that counts as good or not while she puffs out smoke again. that cigarette is going to be her lifeline with any others resting in her pack. dear god. not the greatest of ways to spend a night. getting surprised by the woman that had caught her, and more than that. but it’s better than nothing? she did typically spend those nights alone, these nights alone, while staying off in her own little corner.)
It’s an old habit.
(an old habit, but a habit she can’t quite let go of. the resort did have a funny way of maintaining these terrible vices, texas just so happened to have more interesting ones. sometimes it can be used to even tell when she’s having a suit flare up. not right now, thankfully, right now was more because she’s been dealing with more frustrations as of late from certain aspects forced upon them. that and missing her swords, she really wants to find them again. find something again that belonged to her.)
[ Once Jingyi spots the hot tub, she shamelessly goes for it. With a wave of her hand, she gets a feel for the machine's workings and lets her hand run along the side of the jacuzzi with interest. ]
How about forming a new one? Come join me. Use the machine before you decide to waste it all way, at the very least.
I'm just a gopher this time, and maybe a little annoyed they're making me watch. I can slip out by lying and saying that I got asked to go by your trailer if you got one.
(good enough, right?)
Let's just say that the two people in this dumb flick aren't doing so hot.

How are you doing? Is there anything you need that I can help with?

You sure?
I know it can be a lost cause trying to teach me how.
(her stronger charm points are being straightforward, after all.)

Even being straightforward can have its own charms.
no subject
I did get told that's charming that I'm usually that straightforward.
So someone likes it whenever I'm blunt.

You mean like when people embalm the bodies to prep for funerals?
Or whenever they're prepared to cremate the body in a crematorium?
(not that terra doesn't have funerals, it's more....a lot happens. not even the infected are given burials depending, out of fear of it spreading.)
I can't say I'm that well versed in this.
(her only "funerary rite" given was setting the manor on fire. burning away the corpses, her grandfather's own included.)
